Sake should be drunk warm, right?

'Sake should be drunk warm, right?'

A question that comes up again and again - and rightly so - but cannot be answered with a simple yes or no.
If a sake has enough body, means it has a low rice polish rate and thus 'more meat on the bone', it can be a real drinking experience to enjoy it warm.
Depending on the drinking temperature, the very same sake can reveal different aromas and flavours. This is another evidence that sake is a unique alcoholic beverage.

Sake to heat
shizuku is happy to recommend savoury and tasty drops for the cold season, for example...
... the smooth, full-bodied Asahimai Junmai
... the round and intense Inatahime Ryokan
... the strong, earthy-dry Miyabi
... the aromatic, powerful Goriki Junmai

It's worth trying, if it's the right sake. Enjoy trying it out and kanpai!

The wonderfully refreshing summer surprise with a frozen drop of Japan...

MEIKEL'S KITCHEN by shizuku - Experiment Kabosu Sorbet!

He loves food, he loves cooking and he enjoys sake.
Meikel - Graphic Designer, DJ and Sake Addict - tries, combines and discovers.

This time: The homemade summer sorbet made of Kabosu fruit liqueur - that's it.
Inside: Kabosu no Susume, the refreshing, racy, citrus-flavoured fruit liqueur, with hand-pressed Kabosu juice. Mild and extremely refreshing, complex on the palate, racy and present as well as intensely fruity. A sweet and palatable aperitif drink, with a low alcohol content and a sourish-bitter finish - a dream in sorbet!

Tip: If you prefer it pink and minty-fresh, try the sorbet also with Aka Shiso, the light, sweetish and fruity Shiso liqueur, with notes of dark berries, cassis, anise and liquorice.

Culinary conclusion: 'Wow! This Kabosu fruit really got it! An extremely refreshing citrus flavour, just the right thing for a hot summer day. Sorbet with a frozen drop of Japan - summer vibes pure!' enthuses Meikel. Experiment succeeded!

A deep look into the glass... but Japanese, with style!

The depth, the harmony, the perfection, the passion.

With Japanese premium drops, there are numerous reasons to pour another glass.
But if you do it with style, with the right sake and in company, which also appreciates it, a single glass of sake can be transformed into a warm and profound story...

The Cloudy
Fresh, unrefined, fruity sweet and slightly bitter, this milky premium sake is a lovely and viscid-like aperitif or an exciting accompaniment to spicy dishes. The Goriki Nigori, available as MINI, MAXI or MAGNUM (Magnum bottle exclusively at shizuku Store or on request).

The Golden
Dark chocolate, honey, yeast, dried corn, lime blossom and wood. The amber-coloured Shirayuki Edo Genroku is a strong and flattering Junmai (Genshu), fermented in wooden barrels (taru). Complex, multi-layered, with a long, salty sweetish haze, it is perfect as a digestif, with spicy or seasoned dishes and delicious with blue cheese.

The Harmonious
The Kiku Masamune Taru Sake is earthy and tangy-fresh. Aged shortly in barrels (taru), this harmonious Junmai refreshes with notes of cedar and lavender. Tangy, with a dry and slightly resinous aftertaste, it is ideal as an accompaniment to fish, especially sushi and sashimi.

The Real Weight
The complex Fukugao Bourbon Barrel, matured in Bourbon barrels, is a delightful, real weight. Woody aromas of coffee and tobacco, with hints of coconut and vanilla on the nose, and fruity-sweet notes of dark chocolate and hazelnut. Smooth, sirupy and tangy at the same time.

Tasting new things, discovering new things - drop by drop.

Sake Raclette - Swiss raclette refined with sake

Raclette in summer? Are they completely crazy now?!
Oh yes, we are! So crazy, in fact, that we have added Japanese rice wine to Swiss raclette for the first time. And it tastes just heavenly...

Perfect for summer outdoor raclette fun
The Valaisans not only invented raclette, they also enjoy it at warmer times of the year because it makes sense. Once again and together with natürli Käse, we have experimented and developed a sake raclette for the first time.

The raclette cheese is matured over several months, inoculated with a strong, intensive Junmai - brewed according to the traditional kimoto method - and literally refined. The result is an incredibly mild, slightly sweet raclette cheese with a wonderful umami note.

The first sake raclette - 'The best raclette ever'
The feedback from our connoisseurs is overwhelming and consistently positive. So join in the enjoyment, 'it has while it lasts'.

... Portions approx. 250g - 400g, vacuum-packed
... available at Amstad Chäslädeli, at shizuku Store or at info@shizuku.ch

Good appetite!

Spring BBQ - With steak, sausage and sake!

The Swiss barbecue season is open...

Once the grill is cleaned, it is allowed to sizzle, fizzle and smoke again. Cervelat, bratwurst, a hearty steak or a well-seasoned little fish - this barbecue spring sake also belongs in the glass!

shizuku is happy to recommend the perfect companion for all barbecue masters.

The Umami Force
If the menu is tasty, this is your drop. Kozaemon Kimoto Junmai is simply a force in taste. Brewed according to the traditional kimoto method, this balanced sake convinces with its fresh and at the same time intense, sweet and spicy roast aromas and its very pleasant acidity - ideal with grilled meat and sausages.

The BBQ Junmai
Inatahime Ryokan
surprises with a salty and leathery nose. Aromas of lime blossom and soja mixed with notes of dark chocolate, coffee, tobacco and nutmeg. A very round and intense Junmai, delightful for your barbecue.

The Tangy
Paprika, nutmeg, pine needles, olive tapenade as well as smoked ham and meat pastry in the nose and oily, resinous, smokey and spicy-fleshy in the palate. Goriki Junmai is an aromatic and powerful sake with lots of umami and the perfect match to a barbecue party.

The Adventure
Kozaemon Yamahai Junmai is a veritable taste expedition! With its intense and earthy flavours and also a lot of umami a sensational sake to hearty dishes. If it is a 'Bündner Gerstensuppe' with bacon in winter, it has to be a T-Bone steak or a juicy sausage now.

Heat up properly and treat yourself to this culinary delight.

We are also happy to recommend our sake food blog Meikel's kitchen and make you thirsty with further ideas and suggestions. Kanpai!

de Ai - The Japanese tingle

Mame San – The Sake Flavoured Vodka

Herr Bohne - boundlessly good!

Mame San (in German: Herr Bohne) is a sake flavoured vodka that combines the fruits of Tottori with the national drink of Japan - the Inatahime Ryokan (Junmai) of the Inata Honten brewery in Yonago, also Tottori - and the water of Zürichsee.
Three kinds of distilled beans and the addition of sake give this drop natural aromas and lots of umami.

Mame San – The Sake Flavoured Vodka

The characteristic clay bottle reveals the handwriting. Together with Turicum shizuku has worked out a lot. The result is a new spirit that convinces enthusiasts as well as curious people.

'Mame San is a completely new drink, with a taste that you don't know yet, but which still comes across as familiar. Every single bean delivers an unmistakable aroma for a perfect harmony, the outstanding Zürichsee water together with the Junmai at the end the perfect crowning glory of the product!', enthuses Oliver Honegger, technical manager and responsible for recipe development and production at Turicum Distillery GmbH.

Tasty, sweet, earthy and fresh.

Whether pure, on the rocks, mixed with soda water, tonic or ginger brew. Mame San!
Kanpai with our taste-intensive innovation!

Drop of Japan: Shirayuki Akafuji, the all-rounder with citrus freshness.

Signature by Dirk Hany.
'Who says that an Old Fashioned can only be made with 'brown' spirits? The TAKESHI'S CASTLE is a great combination of sake, gin and port. The refreshing cucumber provides for further desire... A cocktail that will warm your heart even during the cold season.'

Sip it classy - with shizuku at Bar am Wasser.
